The St. Martin's/Highgate FC U14's 5-A-Side football team won the central region of the Clubs for young people annual football tournament, and will now go on to compete in the national finals in Manchester this December.
After a slow start in the group stages with a sluggish 1-1 draw, the lads upped the tempo and never looked back winning the remaining 5 games in their group comfortable. By topping their group they went into the semifinals with the same mindset and swept pass the opposition.
The final was a much tighter game which finished 1-1 after full time and ended extra time at 2-2. This meant penalties with all our lads hitting the target. A virtuoso save from our keeper Kaylib won the game with the penalties finishing 5-4 to us.
Bring on the Next Round!

|Under 14's Receive Medals and Trophy|
On the evening of Wednesday 27th of October 2010, our under 14's team were celebrating their success after capturing the U14's 5-a-side crown in the Birmingham round of Clubs for Young People Football Tournament.
After battling through a nail biting first group stage against 4 strong opponents, the lads met local rivals ER Mason in the Semi Final. After a a tight opening few minutes, they broke through ER Mason defences and never looked back to win the game 5-1.
The Final was a much tighter affair against YMCA Erdington. The game started brightly with a few early shots from our boys before they conceded a early goal. The lads held their nerve and started the fight back to eventually win the game 2-1.
The team is coached by Highgate FC and it just goes to show how time and effort is well rewarded for both young people and volunteers.
We are now preparing the team for the midland region finals in Derby which take place in Mid November. Watch this Space.
